This is going to sound a little bit whiny, so just bare with me...
The kids get so excited about school being out and summer vacation finally getting here, but I've got to tell you, it doesn't excite me much. M asked me the other day when my last day before summer break was and I explained that my schedule doesn't work like a teachers, I have to work the whole year. Now please don't misread this, it's not to say that teachers don't earn the summer off and every penny of their pay and then some, I honestly don't know how they do what they do. But I do so envy them those 6 to 8 weeks off during the summer months to make other plans.
My plans? Well, the kids are spending the day with their Grandparents, and then next Tuesday through the day before they go back to school they will be in one camp or another. Granted they usually have a great time, and they probably get to do a whole lot more unique activities than many kids that stay at home, but I still feel badly that they don't get to lounge around at home in their jammies if they want to. They don't get to sleep in late or go to bed as late as they would like. They don't get to hang out with neighborhood friends who are staying at home, they still only see them at nights or on weekends.
I'm not really complaining about being a working mom, it is what it is, but sometimes I sure do wish I could either work from home, at least occasionally or that lottery ticket would finally come in...

I understand completely. I too am a single Mom with two. I feel bad for my children that they can't have the summers that I had. Hopefully, their grandparents will be able to take them from time to time for a day of fun.
Best Wishes,
Debra
